Tim Hortons Children’s Ranch Riding Arena
We would strongly recommend Integrity Post Structures to anyone. They were very fast and easy to work with.
The Tim Hortons Children’s Ranch located on 150 acres in Alberta’s Kananaskis Country now offers year-rounding riding in an Integrity Post Structures indoor arena to its young guests. Up until recently, the Ranch’s riding program was run out of an outdoor corral, which meant some visitors missed out on this program, or some aspects of it, because of bad weather.
The Ranch, which has been running since 1991, provides free camps for economically disadvantaged kids between ages 9-12, including indoor and outdoor facilities and programs.
“The kids have the unique experience of living in the Canadian Rockies, while participating in both our outdoor and indoor programs. We wanted an indoor arena because we have 75 horses here, and we wanted 100 percent of the camp guests to have the chance to become comfortable around horses and to learn to ride,” said Jeff Storck, the Ranch’s General Manager.
“With just an outdoor arena up until this year, only some of the kids could do that only when the weather was right. Thunder, lightning, rain and cold weather meant not everyone could participate,” adds Storck.
About five years ago, the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, which runs the camp, began to fundraise for the indoor arena. Research into different builders was undertaken with Integrity Post Structures being the final choice.
Because the camp is such a wonderful opportunity for these children, Integrity Post Structures donated the kick wall for the arena.
Each year, Tim Hortons franchisees approach school principals and local children’s organizations to select a group of high needs kids from grades five and six to participate in the camp. The children need to meet certain criteria to be a guest and the camp is free. Local school groups made up of students ages 8-18 also visit the Ranch during the school year, from September to May.
“We’re really appreciative of Integrity Post Structures’ donation and really excited about the arena. We’re very happy with the finished product. Integrity Post Structures did a great job of matching the building to our overall theme,” says Storck. “We would strongly recommend Integrity Post Structures to anyone. They were very fast and easy to work with.”
Storck adds, “Over the years, we’ve had more than 200,000 kids attend the camps. Now there’s an opportunity for every single kid who comes here to work with our horses, no matter what the weather. We also take them on a brief trail ride, and so we need them to be comfortable with the horses.”
The Integrity Post Structures high performance indoor riding arenas offer a new level of refinement without compromising strength, leading in innovative riding arena design and construction.
